Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Briana pulls on the leash and was sociable toward the handler during the assessment - soft body, low wag. She was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She engages in play, loose body, wags tail, mouth is open. She did not resist being handled while eating, and was easily pushed out of the food bowl. Briana was not interested in toys or rawhides, but rushed in confidently towards the helper dog during the assessment
ADDITIONAL NOTES ON DOG to DOG PORTION OF SAFER:
"Brianna was tested today with 2 additional female dogs at the shelter (a pit bull and a rottie.) While Briana did not show aggression with either dog, she demonstrated a level of confidence that will require monitoring and management. She would do best in a home that did not have another confident female.
When being introduced to her new housemates, it's suggested that the initial introduction to each new dog be done one at a time on neutral territory. Allowing all dogs to interact at once is strongly discouraged, and she should be separated from the other dogs in the home for the first few weeks. Barring this, it would be best for all interactions between Briana and other dogs to be carefully supervised, and Briana monitored for signs of bossiness or rudeness."
She is capable of living with other dogs. She just needs an experienced owner that can properly integrate her into the pack.
