A volunteer writes: Melo is an adorable, loving boy that found himself at the Brooklyn ACC when his human was evicted. Melo was extremely fearful when he arrived and for some time afterwards. He would hide in the corner of his cage and take my treats only when I wasn't looking. As time went on the process of getting him out of his cage became easier, but our walks still remained very business-like in nature. Melo was happy to relieve himself and get fresh air, but still very wary of being touched. And then one day I walked past his cage to find a waggy dog, with his paws propped on the cage door. It seemed Melo had finally acclimated and was letting his guard down - revealing the sweet, playful, affectionate boy I knew was always there! Melo loves to be pet and it seems he can't get close enough. He leans into my legs and will crawl into my lap and give me kisses. He seems to have some housetraining, sits on command and seems friendly towards other dogs. He absolutely adores tennis balls and though he hasn't quite mastered the main concepts of fetch, it is pretty endearing when he tries to gather as many as he can and lay down with them...he does not tear them up, but loves to keep them in his mouth. He may need a little time to warm up in new situations, but he is SO worth it...once he trusts you, there is no better friend than Melo!!

I am a male tan and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR. Weight 41 lbs
I came in the shelter as a SEIZED on 04/12/2014 from NY 11216, owner surrender reason stated was OWN EVICT.
