Carmine is a dapper older gentleman who has had a pretty unstable life! Carmine has been found as a stray and subsequently returned to his owner twice before being brought into the Brooklyn shelter as a stray last week! Carmine?s previous owner is now homeless, and can?t reclaim him. Carmine is a bit shy, but friendly once you introduce yourself. He has a sweet, wizened face with the saddest eyes! Unfortunately, Carmine?s neighbor dog was diagnosed with Parvo on 8/18, and there is a chance that Carmine was exposed. He is not currently exhibiting any symptoms, but he will need to monitored and isolated for about a week to determine whether or not he contracted the virus. Carmine also has some arthritis in his hind legs and nuclear sclerosis in his eyes, but this senior deserves a loving and stable home!
Behavior: Experienced Home, No Children
Carmine walks calmly on the leash and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. He was tense during handling, but had soft body language. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. He was not interested in toys, but took the rawhide away, body language was stiff. Carmine was relaxed when approaching the helper dog, but was not playful.

This dog is located at the Brooklyn Animal Care&Control (2336 Linden Blvd Brooklyn 11208). For more information on a particular dog, email adoption @ nycacc.org (remove the spaces) but ONLY email if you are serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions. Also, have the ID# listed at the top of this post handy when inquiring!! This dog is in danger of being on the euthanasia list and could be scheduled to be killed at any time!
