A set of speakers for the audiophile and professional musician. P-Audio BM-12CX38. New, in their shipping boxes. The PAudio BM12CX38 weighs 31 lbs, has a cast aluminum frame, 4 inch voice coil, and 2 inch compression driver. It handles 600 watts RMS (woofer) and is 101 db efficient (in cabinets). The woofer cone is paper. The accordian style pleated surround is treated cloth. The compression horn tweeter uses the woofer cone as the dispersion lens. There is an acoustically transparent dust cap to protect the tweeter, which uses a spun aluminum horn. The woofer is run full range and using a single capacitor for the tweeter.

These speakers are really for those professionals or serious amateurs who understand audio and know what they are looking at here. For anyone else, if you are interested in these speakers, you will need to have someone who is knowledgeable about the principles of speaker enclosures and cross-over circuitry to give you cabinet and crossover plans. If you want to go it alone, I strongly suggest you spend the time and effort to learn how to build speakers. There is plenty of forum discussion on speaker building and there is plenty of discussion about these particular speakers. I also have a crossover kit recommended by the US importer. But it is important that it be clear: these speakers are not the kind you buy at Radio Shack with some standard crossover which you then bring home and stuff into wooden boxes and place in a typical apartment living room to use with your Ipod. You would be sorely disappointed. These speakers can sound like either a dream or a nightmare -depending on how you house them. Build them right and you will feel as if you are in heaven when you hear them. PAudio speakers are 'pointsource' which means that imaging and soundstage are incredible because the sound comes from a single point in space; the speakers use huge magnets; clarity, detail, accuracy, extension and realism are unmatched because of precise control of the cone and compression horn diaphram; the speakers are precision made with heavy, cast frames and stiff paper cones; distortion is almost nonexistent and power handling is unmatched; said to be among the most efficient speakers in the world (over 100 db), they present a very easy load for any amplifier; can be used with only a single capacitor for a crossover; the sound is as pure as possible and the speaker can be matched to your room by proper selection of the right capacitor. I would say that the average person has never heard the quality of music that these speakers give.
The speakers are new in their shipping boxes and valued at $800 for the pair. I am looking to barter them.
